Splash in the Class: A Catalyst for Environmental Stewardship

Splash in the Class (SITC) program is shaping the Sacramento region’s next generation of environmental protectors. Through hands-on, interactive lessons, students in grades 3-6 dive into water quality, pollution prevention, and local stream ecosystems. With over 80,000 students impacted since its start, SITC is creating eco-conscious youth actively taking steps to protect the environment.

Led by David Rosen, this fun and engaging program connects students to nature while showing them how pollution affects their water and wildlife. The real magic happens when students see how their actions can make a difference.

Critterville’s Fascinating Journey 

Lu-Anne Spencer-Hartle, Critter Coordinator at Sacramento Splash since 2001, transformed the program’s single critter into a vibrant educational hub, Critterville, housing over 40 animals. Her dedication and passion for amphibians have made Critterville an integral part of Splash, providing students with powerful lessons on the impact of human actions on ecosystems.
