Bio

Jason graduated from the University of San Francisco with a degree in U.S. History and Environmental Studies. He was a volunteer at Yosemite National Park and for the last 11 years has been a Park Naturalist and Outdoor Educator for the Department of Fish and Wildlife. Jason has recently completed work on an animated educational series with Green Guardians, which includes leading students on tours of the Nimbus Fish Hatchery. In the video, he is affectionately referred to as “Mr. Jason the Fish Guy.” Besides his work with Fish and Wildlife, Jason has been invited to speak at numerous community events and collaborates with teachers to deliver educational programs for school students.

From his earliest days exploring the woods around his home, to teaching students about the magic of the American River, Jason says that “nature calms me, inspires me, and sharing it with others ensures that the next generation can have similar experiences.” We are so grateful to have Jason join Splash delivering Splash in the Class presentations and soon also Vernal Pool field trips and tours in Mather!
