As a devoted father of 4, ranging from 5 to 16 years old, Volker knows how incredibly important it is to instill a love for nature and the outdoors early on. All four attend(ed) Waldorf schools in Orangevale and Folsom and his family is deeply engaged in supporting the chartered organizations providing the Waldorf programs.
Volker grew up in East Germany and experienced the end of the Cold War first-hand. After earning a Masters degree in Computer Science, he worked over 20 years for large organizations like Deutsche Telekom and HP, managing teams across multiple continents and timezones. In the process, Volker relocated to the Sacramento area in 2007 and fell in love with the region, its beauty, and its people. He lives in Orangevale and is very happy to have enough space to let his kids, the dog, and two ducks “run free” around the house.
After 6 years as the Head of IT at PowerSchool, in Folsom, Volker now works at Golden 1 Credit Union, running the Business processes and Finances of the IT organization, elevating the financial wellbeing of Golden 1’s members. In his spare time (if any) he loves to work on motorcycles and explore the backroads.
Volker is passionate about the need to educate children about the wonder that is nature and develop an understanding of how to protect and nurture the regional habitats. What better way to have kids fall in love with nature than to provide them an immersive experience via Sacramento Splash. In joining the Board, he’s hopeful that his background and passion for networking help grow the visibility and impact Sacramento Splash has across California.
