Bio

After graduating with a degree in environmental studies from UCSB, Rachel moved back to her hometown of Sacramento, where she was introduced to the wonderful world of Splash through her work as a docent with Project AWE at the Nicolaus Dairy. Rachel now works across several Splash programs as an environmental educator.

Rachel grew up exploring the natural spaces of Sacramento and developed a love for the American River. She was also fortunate to have spent time in a variety of state and national parks hiking, kayaking, horseback riding, and camping. These experiences were treats to be savored — and all outings were accompanied by the knowledge her Dad passed to her about the importance of respecting the natural world.

From her own experiences in nature, Rachel understands the importance of a formative connection to the natural world — the stillness, clarity, and wonder it brings. It is difficult for people to care for our environment without such connections, which is why the work Splash does is so important! Rachel loves connecting with kids, animals, and plants — learning through teaching about a variety of environmental science topics.
