In the heart of our community, Tara Taylor, the founder of Single Mom Strong, is making a profound impact. Her mission is simple yet powerful: to empower single mothers and their children through enrichment, encouragement, and educational programs. Tara’s vision for Single Mom Strong is to be the village that supports single-parent families, ensuring they thrive in every aspect of life.
“Single Mom Strong is more than just an organization,” Tara explains. “It’s a community where single mothers and their children connect regularly, share experiences, and support each other.” This sense of community is the cornerstone of Single Mom Strong, which organizes three to four events monthly, allowing families to build strong bonds and access vital resources.
In recent years, Single Mom Strong has seen remarkable growth. The community of single mothers has expanded to over 1,300 members across the three-county region. Their preschool and childcare programs have also flourished, with two established locations and plans for a third in Elk Grove or Rancho Cordova by next year.
A recent collaboration with Sacramento Splash highlights the impactful initiatives that Single Mom Strong spearheads. Through their EmpowerME School-Age Summer Camp, Single Mom Strong provided children with a fun, educational experience during their breaks. Sacramento Splash played a key role, offering engaging activities that taught children about pollution in an interactive way. “Our kids named Sacramento Splash as the best collaborator this year,” Tara proudly shares, “and we’re excited to build on this success in future camps.“
This partnership with Sacramento Splash aligns perfectly with the goals of both organizations. By providing affordable, high-quality childcare and unique learning experiences, Single Mom Strong ensures that children of single parents have the opportunity to thrive. “We want to give every child a true summer camp experience,” Tara says, “and Sacramento Splash helps us do just that.”
Tara Taylor and her team are excited to expand their partnership with Sacramento Splash further. They plan to include the organization in future EmpowerME sessions during Spring and Winter Breaks and bring their collaboration to all locations as Single Mom Strong grows.
