Obadiah is passionate about protecting the environment, having grown up with many opportunities to connect with nature. He has dedicated his career at SMUD to addressing the critical challenge of climate change. There, he is focused on the energy transition to zero carbon fuels supplying all electric buildings and transport, leveraging flexible customer loads to minimize overall environmental impacts.
Obadiah is passionate about the need to create opportunities for children to experience the natural world, to appreciate it, and to develop a desire to protect and restore it. Sacramento Splash provides an immersive experience for thousands of students in the Sacramento region. In joining the Board, he’s hopeful he can help expand that opportunity in the region and help grow the impact Sacramento Splash has across the state.
Obadiah also supports the international nonprofit Energy Systems Integration Group, serving on the board as Vice President. He has a background in Mechanical Engineering at Cal Poly and a Masters degree in Transportation Technology and Policy from UC Davis. Alleviating the impact of technology while protecting natural environments and the ecosystems they support is at the core of what Obadiah is driven to focus on.
